My sense is this type of technique is very dangerous, particularly for a beginner, and/or for someone practicing on their own. I would start with a simpler technique. It is called Vipassana, and involves watching the breath. You simply sit comfortably, perhaps with legs crossed, back straight, and you watch as the breath comes into your belly and leaves your belly. No alteration of the breathing is needed. Eyes closed or half-open. If your awareness leaves your breath (as it almost certainly will!), simply notice, "ah, I am not watching my breath," and bring your attention back to your breath. Begin with five or ten minutes a day, in the morning or around sunset. Increase the time as you feel stronger.

Why is it some people always claim they have invented something that has been in existence for about 60′000 years. lolz
Meditation is a means to an end. There are 7 aspects of us all sharing the same body. A base self, a reproductive self, a feeling self, an emotional self, a vocal self, a thinking self and a higher self. Meditation is a way of shutting up all your lower selves so your higher self can get a word in edge ways.
Shamanic drumming is a drug free means of obtaining an out of body experience. Which is why a shamans drum is called a horse, because it gets you from state a, to state b.

In my experience methods or techniques are not as important
as results or benefits. Much depends on purpose or intent, are
we in the habit of feeding our mind or is it the usual exercise
of garbage in garbage out? What is the quality of our daily
experience? And how do we make this more meaningful.
That would be the purpose of meditation. If we are serious
about meditation it is also important that we are curious
enough to read up on the subject preferably from mutiple
perspectives. While at the same time sticking to one
method until we attain some grounded experience.
You will find that expectaions are your greatest challenge
to be overcome. But once you reach some level of quite
within, you will begin to notice subtle changes in your
emotional landscape, less agitated and better able to
deal with the vestitudes of changes that confront you
on a daily bases as eventually with practice the layers
of unresolved issues rise to the surface to be recognized
and released. Check out Thomas Cleary’s "The Secret of
the Golden Flower" or his translation of "The Book of
Balance and Harmony" and when and if you are ready
for advance practice there is "The Taoist I Ching".
Also Stephen Mitchell’s translation of the Tao Te Ching
is great for active meditation or contemplation in its
recorded version. Hope this helps.

What’s described in the site isn’t meditation. It’s just some kid trying to hallucinate.

Meditation is most reliable technique offered by vedic philosophy.
Vedas believe that it is our own mind which is responsible for our pains and pleasures.
Vedas also informs that if you want to find out about highest spiritual entity, one has to travel within i,e, do meditation.
meditation is a concentration within on one point. Travel with this concentration slowly helps to over come your weaknesses, fills you with positives and helps to open gates of high spiritual knowledge, which gives you highest knowledge of God and his Universe.
This knowledge can not be put in words and writings. People who reach this stage, will prefer to be humble , honest and will keep silence, because such knowledge is
beyond understanding of normal individual.

No one really knows how meditation works.
And as you can see here
http://www.liebertonline.com/doi/abs/10.1089/acm.2006.12.817
the scientific community still aren’t sure that it does work!
However meditation has been around for thousands of years – and is practiced by a lot of people – who claim all sorts of benefits.
All I can say is that I meditate – and something tells me it’s important….
