Meditation and breathing techniques for labor?
I’m not due until July 23rd but I’m one of those people who likes to prepare and go over everything way ahead of time
) I’m reading and looking into meditation and breathing techniques for labor and I just wanted everyone’s input on different methods/programs, what worked what didn’t work. I’m trying to deliver with as little medication as possible
) Thanks all!
The number one biggest thing that helped me was I told the hospital when I walked in the door that I intended to have a natural delivery. So they sent me a nurse who was especially skilled in natural. Not all nurses deal with natural. Some do only epidural deliveries – it’s true, I work at a hospital, and my sister works in L&D. There are some who don’t know how to do it. So get a good nurse to help you.
Other than that, it’s not so much about certain breathing techniques as it is about staying as calm as possible. Take deep cleansing breaths, let your whole body go limp and rest between contractions. Having a focal point helps some people. Personally, I liked to close my eyes and not see what was going on around me so I could concentrate on what I was doing.

i didn’t go to any classes or anything but what i found that helped was to take very long deep breaths during a contraction…and try not to tense up because this will slow you dilation…. it also helps to take your mind off the pain..if you concentrate on listening to your breathing… another thing that helped me was to lean on you hubby while standing and sway back and forth…sort of like the way you slow danced in high school..lmao and walking helps thing Progress… but once you get an epidural..you cant walk anymore so be sure you do that before….

I used the Bradley method with all four of mine. Look for the book, Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way. The book contains the exercises you need to use and the breathing techniques. It really does work.
